Uber Sexual Assault Lawsuit in Arizona
Last updated: November 3, 2026
For riders in Arizona who were sexually assaulted by an Uber driver, with Arizona's filing deadline for survivors. Lyft riders can ask too.
Riders allege that Uber did not do enough to protect passengers from its drivers. Federal cases are coordinated in MDL 3084 in the Northern District of California; an Arizona rider's case can be filed in the Arizona Superior Courts or in federal court. These are allegations being litigated, decided case by case. NuLegal reviews these claims at no cost and connects qualified claimants with trial counsel.
Arizona Filing Deadline for Survivors
Arizona has deadline rules of its own for adult survivors of sexual assault, set out on this page. Its usual injury deadline is 2 years.
Deadlines as stated on November 4, 2026, read from the statute.
Against the person who did it only
1 year
Clock starts: The final disposition of the criminal case against the person charged.
When it applies: The person who committed the act is charged by criminal complaint or indictment with a listed offense (including sexual abuse, § 13-1404, and sexual assault, § 13-1406); conviction not required. This extends the ordinary 2-year period.
Which incidents it covers: Any action filed within 1 year after final disposition, regardless of when the conduct occurred.
Who it reaches: This reaches only a claim against the person who did it. A claim against a company such as Uber falls under the usual injury deadline, 2 years.
Ariz. Rev. Stat. § 12-511(A), (F)
A deadline turns on the facts: when the ride was, and whether the claim is against Uber or against the driver. Some states also set a shorter deadline for an assault claim against the person who did it. Do not assume a deadline has passed. A review checks which rule applies before anything is filed.
Where an Arizona Case Is Filed
An Arizona claim can be brought in the Arizona Superior Courts, or in federal court, where the district covering Arizona is the District of Arizona.
A federal case is transferred into MDL 3084 before Judge Charles R. Breyer in the Northern District of California for coordinated pretrial work. That transfer groups cases that share common questions. It decides nothing about whether any of them has merit, and it does not mean an Arizona rider has to travel to California.
If it was a Lyft ride, the same kind of claim is coordinated separately, in MDL 3171. You can still ask for a review here.
