Uber Sexual Assault Claims in Kentucky

Uber Sexual Assault Lawsuit in Kentucky

Last updated: November 3, 2026

For riders in Kentucky who were sexually assaulted by an Uber driver, with Kentucky's filing deadline for survivors. Lyft riders can ask too.

Riders allege that Uber did not do enough to protect passengers from its drivers. Federal cases are coordinated in MDL 3084 in the Northern District of California; a Kentucky rider's case can be filed in the Kentucky Circuit Courts or in federal court. These are allegations being litigated, decided case by case. NuLegal reviews these claims at no cost and connects qualified claimants with trial counsel.

Kentucky Filing Deadline for Survivors

Kentucky has deadline rules of its own for adult survivors of sexual assault, set out on this page. Its usual injury deadline is 1 year.

Deadlines as stated on November 4, 2026, read from the statute.

Unsettled whether it reaches a company

5 years

Clock starts: The latest of: the act (or the last act in a series by the same perpetrator); when the survivor knew or should have known of the act; when the survivor learned who the perpetrator was; or the civil defendant's conviction for the offense.

When it applies: The act against a person 18 or older meets the elements of a listed Kentucky sex offense (KRS 510.040–510.150, 529.100 or 529.110 involving commercial sexual activity, 530.020, 531.090, 531.100); no prosecution or conviction is needed.

Who it reaches: The statute's words do not settle whether this reaches a claim against a company such as Uber. A review confirms it.

Ky. Rev. Stat. § 413.2485

A deadline turns on the facts: when the ride was, and whether the claim is against Uber or against the driver. Some states also set a shorter deadline for an assault claim against the person who did it. Do not assume a deadline has passed. A review checks which rule applies before anything is filed.

Where a Kentucky Case Is Filed

A Kentucky claim can be brought in the Kentucky Circuit Courts, or in federal court, where the districts covering Kentucky are the Eastern District of Kentucky and Western District of Kentucky.

A federal case is transferred into MDL 3084 before Judge Charles R. Breyer in the Northern District of California for coordinated pretrial work. That transfer groups cases that share common questions. It decides nothing about whether any of them has merit, and it does not mean a Kentucky rider has to travel to California.

If it was a Lyft ride, the same kind of claim is coordinated separately, in MDL 3171. You can still ask for a review here.
